Interlude

Why are covers so interesting? Because they can bring you some of your favourite tunes in a new and also exciting form.
But that’s not all. Here is where cover songs get really, really exciting: take a song you don’t like by an artist you don’t like and let someone cover this song. If that other artists does a good job, they can turn that song into something much better than the original. Something you can enjoy.

You want an example? Oh boy, what a coincidence. I found that nifty Lady Gaga (yeah, I know, horrible, right?) cover in my inbox today.

Not the first time I experienced that with The Gaga. While I never understood the hype about Pokerface, covers of the song by artists like Chris Daughtry or Absent Elk make it worth listening to. Just like the rocking cover You Me At Six did of the song for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Talking of which: the Born This Way cover above – totally Live Lounge worthy.

Acoustic covers: the perfect cure for an allergy to plastic pop products.
